A Statement on behalf
of the family of Jermaine Berry

Good afternoon.

On behalf of Willie Woods, the father of Jermaine Berry, and the rest of his family, we are here today to express our deep regret and say we are sorry to Sgt. Charles L. Byrne and Patrolman Robert J. Welby, and their families for the shooting that occurred this New Years’ Day. We hope and pray for these officers’ speedy recovery, and are grateful for their attempt to respond to a call for help. We commend Commissioner Paul Evans and all of the Boston Police Department for their restraint in this very difficult and trying time.
